Monsignor Bernard Powers had a simple message to share with the 28 people who participated in the Advent Prayer Retreat Day on Dec. 8 – “God is coming.”
Gathered in Conference Room A in the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center on a crisp and sunny morning, Monsignor Powers passed out sheets of paper and asked each participant to answer the questions with the first word that came to them. The questions were “What do you want?” “What are you doing to get it?” “What do you need?” and “What are you doing to get it?”
“The answer to the first two questions is ‘God,’” he said. “If you didn’t put ‘God,’ you didn’t go deep enough.”
Here are some pictures from the day:

Monsignor Powers stresses his point that God is coming.

Monsignor Powers asked if the participants had changed their lives any during the first two weeks of Advent. He urged them to be aware of what was coming.

With the word “desire” written on the blackboard, Monsignor Powers told the group that they had to have the desire to empty themselves to welcome God.

Monsignor Powers’ dynamic speaking style kept the attention of the 28 participants.
